The earliest evidence that federal authorities in the United States were aware of Occupy Wall Street and preparing to squash it comes from a September 1 Department of Homeland Security briefing. Warning of an upcoming protest on Wall Street, the leaked memo explained that the unique conjunction of culture jammers with politicized hackers was cause for alarm. “The ideologies set forth by Adbusters seem to align at a basic level with the stated intent of Anonymous’ newly adopted Hacktivist agenda … These protests are highly likely to occur,” the report declared. We also know now that the FBI was investigating Occupy at least two days before occupiers seized Zuccotti. In a leaked chat log Sabu, an FBI informant and prominent member of LulzSec, a hacktivist affinity group, pumped for information about Anonymous’s plans for Occupy. He is recorded asking: “Lets talk about OpWallStreet. I plan on going to Wall Street, do we have anything planned?” Shortly after, despite these counterintelligence efforts, Occupy Wall Street was born and Zuccotti Park became the spiritual center of an international movement.

Now, as the international movement gears up for a major escalation in May with myriad big bangs – a May Day General Strike, anarchic swarms in #OCCUPYCHICAGO, an international blast on May 12 and an effort to retake the squares on May 15, a #LAUGHRIOT on May 18, #OCCUPYCAMPDAVID the next day along with major protests against NATO on May 20 and 21 – stories of aggressive intimidation tactics are beginning to emerge from New York City. In a recent article in the New York Times, occupiers described frequent harassment and interrogation by NYPD intelligence and FBI: “police officers or detectives have been posted outside buildings where private meetings were taking place, have visited the homes of organizers and have questioned protesters arrested on minor charges … one protester says he was questioned by a police detective and an agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.” Meanwhile, authorities are demanding access to the Twitter accounts of prominent occupiers like Jeff Rae and logs of occupy websites. And in Florida, Occupy Miami was raided without cause by paramilitary police on March 13.

On reddit, one activist argued the situation is far worse than is being reported in the news, claiming to have encountered:”DHS bugging of common meeting grounds; DHS paying individuals to attend our meetings and cause disruption; police breaking into property, creating fire hazards, then getting protestors living there evicted for said fire hazard; police breaking into private property and installing surveillance equipment in people’s homes. In at least one instance they left it obvious enough to leave a message; police arresting individuals solely to have them identify photographs of other occupiers; manipulating our personal bank accounts, such as canceling our access to our own accounts.”

Taken together with news of the authoritarian new law H.R. 347, these sinister stories suggest that authorities in the United States are preparing to aggressively disrupt Occupy’s May spring offensive.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said on March 9, 2012 that it is clear that resistance must be the path forward, particularly in light of the massacres and assassinations in Gaza. The PFLP, on behalf of its General Secretary, leadership and cadres saluted the martyrs Zuhair Qaisi (Abu Ibrahim) and Mahmoud Hanani, and all of the martyrs who were slain in the coming day during the brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Front expressed its deepest condolences to the Palestinian people and the families of the martyrs, promising to continue to struggle until liberation is achieved, saying that their deaths will not be in vain. The PFLP expressed that it is clear that the resistance approach is correct, pledging to adhere firmly to resistance in light of the escalating aggression of the Zionist occupation against our people.

The PFLP also called upon the people of the world to express their solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian people and their indignation at the ongoing war crimes of the occupation, in defiance of the people of the world who have come out time and again for Palestine and demanding accountability for occupation war criminals.

Once again, said the Front, the occupation chooses the road of oppression, massacre and murder, and attempts to subdue our people by force. The Front said that this has been confirmed repeatedly throughout the history of our struggle, making it clear that the occupier does not care about the international community, its decisions, or so-called “peace negotiations” and understands only the language of fire and power. The conflict, said the Front, is open with the occupier – and it will end with liberation, independence, self-determination and return.

The Front said that this escalation is the implementation of the occupation’s policy that has existed throughout history, attacking the symbols of resistance and the leaders of our people. This also comes alongside the escalation of occupation attacks in Jerusalem and al-Khalil, in conjunction with the visit of the head of the occupation state to the United States.

The PFLP confirmed that the crimes of the occupation will only generate more blows by the resistance and will only increase our determination to adhere to resistance as the only option to confront the usurping occupier.

The American military have presented the world with a new weapon, informally named the heat ray or microwave cannon. The “Active Denial System” is a non-lethal weapon primarily designed for crowd control.

A video was uploaded on YouTube by USFORCESTV channel of the US military testing a new super high frequency (SHF) weapon. Rumors have long been spread about a “cannon”, which can be mounted on a military vehicle to disperse crowds with the help of a high-powered beam of electromagnetic radiation.

Hearsay still causes the US Department of Defense deny it has spent $120 million on a mobile microwave oven.

The Active Denial System (ADS) beams a high-frequency, man-sized electromagnetic wave 1,000 meters.

ADS fires a high-powered beam of high-frequency millimeter waves at 95 GHz (a wavelength of 3.2 mm). Similar to the same way that a microwave oven heats food at 2.45GHz, the millimeter waves excite the water and fat molecules in the body, instantly heating them via dielectric heating and causing intense pain. While microwaves will penetrate into human tissue about 17mm (0.67″), the millimeter waves used in ADS only penetrate the top layers of skin, with most of the energy being absorbed within 0.4 mm (1/64″).

A person affected by ADS feels a sudden blast of heat that many compare to opening a very hot oven. The target feels pain and reflexively steps or runs away. During the presentation US servicemen managed to immediately disperse a group of disguised marines who played the role of an aggressive crowd.

The US military say this weapon’s injury risk is far lower than other weapons like rubber bullets or pepper spray. The ray does not cause cancer or exacerbate existing cancer, nor does it causes fertility problems or birth defects. That is according to Stephanie Miller, with the biological effects branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory as quoted by Stars and Stripes web edition.

She also said the weapon has been tested on more than 11,000 people, and in just two of those cases, it caused second-degree burns.

Experts believe the idea appeared in the mid 1990s during a US campaign in Somalia, where American soldiers were often attacked by local population only armed with stones or sticks.

Some kind of weapon was needed to avoid victims among civilians and to protect soldiers at the same time.

The properties of an electro-magnetic field have been long used to put the enemy’s electronic instruments out of order. The prototypes of a microwave novelty were first used almost 30 years ago and have significantly diminished in size since then: the first version reached the size of a train carriage. Now it can be put on a Hummer. It is reported the Pentagon is about to create an airborne version of the heat ray.

A 12-year-old boy lies on the ground, stripped to his waist and with five bullet holes in his chest.

His name is Balachandran Prabakaran and he is the son of Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of the secessionist rebels of the Tamil Tigers, the LTTE.

The shocking footage of the executed boy is contained in a new documentary, Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields: War Crimes Unpunished, which will be screened this week.

A year after screening Jon Snow’s award-winning documentary Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields about the dying days of the civil war – Channel 4 have returned to the island to uncover more evidence of alleged abuse

In the documentary, Mr Snow examines four instances of alleged war crimes using contemporaneous documents, eye witness accounts, photographic stills and trophy footage to determine how events unfolded in the final days of the war and investigate who was responsible for the carnage.

One of the most horrific scenes shows the bullet-riddled body of 12-year-old Balachandran Prabhakaran, son of the Tiger leader Velupillai.

Professor Derrick Pounder, a forensic pathologist at Dundee University, confirmed the boy was shot five times rather than killed in combat duty.

He said: ‘There is a speckling from propellant tattooing, indicating that the distance of the muzzle of the weapon to this boy’s chest was two to three feet or less.

‘So he could have reached out with his hand and touched the gun that killed him. After receiving this wound he would have fallen backwards and it’s then that he is likely to have received these two wounds.

‘It’s likely that the shooter was standing over him while he was lying flat on the ground after the first shot. So this is a murder. There’s no doubt about it.’

The programme has also obtained unofficial footage, which suggests that his father Velupillai sustained a massive head wound – when his body was shown on television his head was covered by a rag. Separate stills see him first in uniform, then stripped naked and finally smeared in mud.

Again Professor Pounder believes he was executed. ‘This would be very typical of a high velocity gun shot wound to the head,’ he said.

‘A single gun shot wound to the head is a little unusual in terms of an armed conflict – it would suggest it is a targeted shot at a subject who wasn’t moving.’

The programme comes in the wake of this week’s United States resolution to the UN Human Rights Council censuring Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa and his brother, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaska, for ‘not adequately addressing serious allegations of violations of international law during the war in Sri Lanka’.

‘This forensic investigation reveals damning new evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Sri Lankan government forces,’ said Mr Snow.
